Tokyo String Quartet Farewell Tour
The Tokyo String Quartet’s farewell Ottawa concert has been rescheduled due to illness.
The same program (Haydn, Bartók and Mendelssohn) will be performed at 7:30 pm on Saturday, 17 November 2012, at Dominion-Chalmers United Church. The audience is invited to a reception to meet the musicians immediately after the concert.
All tickets purchased for November 1 will be honored on November 17. If you purchased a ticket and cannot attend the concert on November 17, you may exchange your ticket for any other 2012-13 Concert Series performance, or you may request a charitable tax receipt for the full value of your purchase.

As part of its farewell world tour, the Tokyo String Quartet makes one last stop in Ottawa to perform Haydn’s String Quartet No. 59 in G minor, Hob. III:74, Op. 74, no. 3 ‘Rider’, Bartók’s String Quartet No. 4, BB 95, and Mendelssohn’s turbulent String Quartet No. 4 in E minor, Op. 44, no. 2.
The Tokyo String Quartet has released more than 40 landmark recordings on Harmonia Mundi, BMG/RCA Victor Red Seal, Angel-EMI, CBS Masterworks, Deutsche Grammophon and Vox Cum Laude, including the complete quartets of Beethoven, Schubert and Bartók. The quartet’s recordings of Brahms, Debussy, Dvorák, Haydn, Mozart, Ravel and Schubert have earned such honours as the Grand Prix du Disque Montreux, “Best Chamber Music Recording of the Year” awards from both Stereo Review and Gramophone magazines, and seven Grammy nominations.
